Foundry Workshop is a custom app builder that allows deployments to support valuable workflows with less pain. As a Product Design Intern on the team, I helped to identify, decompose, and templatize the first of these workflows during the venture's initial stages.

Enable exploration that supports reusability, economies of scale, and good decision-making.

Today, the effort to build powerful experiences for operational workflows is extremely high and difficult to maintain.  When it comes to the point of delivering value past data integration on business front lines, cleverly stitched applications in the back-end show poorly and make for expensive, unscalable deployment costs.  As a developing module on Palantir Foundry, Workshop is in place to not only support operational end-users, but also creators in delivering high-quality applications that support good-decision making.

Project Goals

A vision of what good looks like.

A big initial part of Workshop consisted of templatizing workflows to give app builders a vision of what "good looks like" from a design and engineering standpoint. This meant identifying common operations across deployments, decomposing their workflows, and translating them into reusable application templates through heavy research and early design.

I spent much of my time heavily involved with this process centered around the first workflow we were working to templatize as one of the two supporting designers alongside other product managers, an engineering team, and multiple client-facing partners.

Though I can't talk about specifics or show my work online, I'd be happy to share more about Foundry Workshop, the project timeline, design process, and final decisions around these initiatives before my internship came to a close.
